According to an Englewood Colorado newswire report, dishnetwork corporation, the digital television leader, is now offering both standard and high definition programming using the MPEG 4 advanced video coding standard. MPEG 4 allows delivery of high definition video at a bit rate much lower than traditional methods. "Dish network once again leads the pack in providing our viewers with an exceptional entertainment experience. Our comprehensive MPEG for solution offers 150-ish HD channels by the end of 2008," said a spokers person from DISH NETWORK.

Dish Network's Chief Marketing Officer feels that the recent reduction of dish network's least expensive package from $24.99 per month to $19.99 per month is a good method for Dish Network to attract new customers.

Dish Network packages range in price from $20.00 per month all the way up to $180.00 per month. The dish satellite network is comprised of four orbiting satellites. This allows for perception of the multicast signal in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
